Dare to dream. Dreams do come true.

Grandpa and I live in paradise! We love it at our cottage – and we love it that you and your Mama are here. As your Mama said – I have wanted to be on the beach with you for the longest time (it is one of my dreams.) We have had a good time – even when you drank a mouthful of saltwater!

This is a pretty good vacation, I would say. I started to say for a little girl, but you have told me you are a medium girl – so ———– pretty good vacation for a medium girl. Nashville, Abbeville, Cumming, St. Helena Island. Not bad kiddo.

More adventures to come.

You are so well loved. I know you will know that your whole life.

Here is what I have learned. Chase your dreams, don’t ever give up chasing them either. People will try and stand in your way. People will tell you no. People will not want you to suceed. Which makes it that much sweeter when you do. Walking through a crowd of 55,000-60,000 people and realizing that I did that is the single greatest feeling in the world. There is a tremendous amount of work involved, long hours and late nights. But, you forget all about that when you make it. I will NEVER give up chasing my dreams, and I hope that you don’t either.

I have my magic wand in hand, and am moving it back and forth while chanting. This will certainly work to make everyone healthy, happy, and loving. Isn’t magic wonderful!? (No specifics on when all this will take place!)

We love you and sure wish we could be of some help. A family not feeling good is so sad.

May the dispositions improve – the fevers be gone – and the Burkerts3 get back to their healthy and happy selves.

I suspect there will be more entries to this down the road, but for now:

You sure are cute.

I had a wonderful visit in California. Your Mom greeted me with a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine. Weeks later when the flowers had wilted, your Mom threw them into the trash. I noticed some of them were not expired, and rescued them. Sweet little yellow posies. They lasted until the day we moved the Burkerts3 out and into their new home!

I love the way you swish the mouthwash around in your mouth post toothbrushing.

You – and your Mom and Dad – have lots of friends. I’m happy I got to meet them and get to know them a little bit.

Always be sweet to your Mama and Daddy.

Strangely, I found this after just having some golden raisins recently and finding myself coughing shortly after every time. I thought “I wonder if anyone else experiences this?” and lo and behold. There was a Yahoo Answers question with this exact same question but it seems it was deleted. Good to know it’s not just me or the batch I got.

I’m inclined to think it’s due to the sulfuring… read up on how they treat them with sulfur dioxide. Some kind of response to that…

Oh, my sweet Kate. You are THE BEST!! so sensitive, so bright, so considerate, so giving, and so absolutely wonderful. I remember when I was a kid. I used to get teased for things all the time. And kids can be absolutely brutal!! But just know that those kids that are teasing you aren’t going to be there forever, and in the grand scheme of things aren’t really worth getting upset about. Which is tricky, because in the moment, it really, really hurts. Your mother and father would move mountains for you, and that is far more important than a couple of your school friends making fun of your dress (which, I am sure is quite beautiful). And, if worse comes to worse, let your uncle Wilson know, and I will fly out to Los Angeles, put on a silly dress and really show these kids whats up.

The countdown is on – 3 days kidlet! I’m not going to think about how long it’s been.

I started using our guestroom last week as a staging area to get ready for my trip. This involves changing season clothes, as well as packing, plus ironing.

Thank goodness for SW Airlines, who do not charge extra for 2 suitcases. This allows me to bring you things I’ve been saving for a while. I will iron and pack this morning and be finished with that. I’m trying to get my flower beds weeded and mulched before I leave, so that will be my afternoon.

Your Mama saying you are playing like she did as a child makes me remember her doing just that. She did play – loved playing school – she, Aunt Tracy and Uncle Wilson performed many plays, offered many talent shows, made many forts throughout the house. You know what? I remember playing like that when I was little too!

When she was a little bit older than you are now she and her 2 friends – Lisa and Tamara – ruled our neighborhood. They were the 3 musketeers. They were known to all, and loved by all.

Get ready, girlie! Many hugs coming your way. Kisses galore. Lots of fun to share and memories for a lifetime.
